Heavy snowfall in Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand has caused minimum temperatures to drop below zero. Tourists enjoying the snowfall are also facing difficulties. IMD has forecast snowfall in Jammu and Kashmir for the next five days.
Weather in Delhi-NCR | Kal Ka Mausam Kaisa Rahega
Rain and dense fog have intensified the cold in Delhi. From Wednesday night to Thursday morning, Delhi recorded 3.7 mm of rainfall. IMD has issued a yellow alert for dense fog and light rain. The minimum temperature was 10.3°C, which is above normal.
Tomorrow Weather | Cold Conditions in UP and Bihar
Cold day conditions persist in Uttar Pradesh, including cities like Lucknow, Kanpur, and Prayagraj. In Bihar, cloudy skies and scattered rain are expected in Patna, Darbhanga, Saharsa, and other districts.
Weather in Rajasthan
Nagaur in Rajasthan recorded a minimum temperature of 3.7°C. Eastern Rajasthan witnessed light to moderate rainfall, while western regions remained dry. Fog reduced visibility significantly.
Cold in Punjab and Haryana
In Punjab, Amritsar recorded a minimum temperature of 7.2°C, while Ambala in Haryana recorded 10°C. Dense fog and light rain have worsened the cold.
Snowfall in Himachal Pradesh and Kashmir
Snowfall is ongoing in Shimla, Kufri, and Narkanda in Himachal Pradesh. Gulmarg in Kashmir recorded a temperature of -7.4°C. The valley is experiencing extreme cold due to ‘Chilla-e-Kalan.’
Cold Day Conditions
According to IMD, a cold day is declared when the minimum temperature is 10°C or below and the maximum temperature is at least 4.5°C below normal. A cold day alert has been issued in several northern states.
Rain in South India
Rain, accompanied by thunderstorms, is forecast in Tamil Nadu until 19 January. Hailstorms are also possible in some areas.
Impact on Transportation
Dense fog in Delhi-NCR caused delays in 29 trains and affected flight operations. Fog and rain have disrupted transportation.
Air Quality
Despite the rain, Delhi’s air quality remains very poor (AQI 336). Stage IV measures under the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) have been implemented for pollution control.
Cold and rain have severely impacted daily life in North India. The weather department has not indicated any relief in the coming days.
